In the Middle of Nowhere - Peter Fleming

In 1980 Peter and his girlfriend Dawn left the Sultanate of Oman to drive back to the UK in Peter's Land Rover - rescued from a scrap dump. Before the age of mobile 'phones, satellite navigation and ATMs this was a journey into the unknown. With no route planned and no visas, they ended up driving through central Africa before crossing the Sahara and back to England, having travelled through 16 countries and after covering 24,000kms. If nothing else, this book is a humble tribute to the legendary Land Rover.
